Controversial and politically charged topics should only be presented in an unbiased, balanced manner. Public schools need to create safe learning environments that foster the development of critical thinkers, where students feel free to hold their own beliefs and express themselves.

Combining advanced and on-level classes is detrimental to every student and teacher. Equity-based initiatives that remove differentiated learning opportunities are harmful and ensure educators are less capable of catering the learning experience to each student’s unique needs. Every student deserves a “right-level” course. Equal opportunity and access to varied learning options enable parents, in partnership with teachers, to decide which class offerings are best for the student.

FISD should be a place where teachers want to stay.  Retaining highly skilled teachers in our district must become a priority.  Happy teachers bring energy and enthusiasm to the classroom, and help their students thrive. Teachers in FISD should feel empowered and supported so that they can be successful. Their opinions matter, and FISD should foster a culture that enables teachers to provide constructive feedback without fear of retaliation from administrators.

Parents and community members have a right to be involved and consulted in FISD decisions.  Constituents deserve respect from their elected officials, and those elected to the school board have a responsibility to listen and effectively represent their community. The FISD Board of Trustees must make meaningful efforts to increase transparency, rebuild lost trust, and demonstrate greater respect for community members by surveying parent preferences frequently and providing sufficient time to address the board at meetings.

Frisco's educational system must promote healthy habits for the child, preserve the integrity of social emotional learning, and protect the values of the family within the educational setting. Our kids deserve  healthy balance as part of their educational experience. Second recess, more brain breaks, hands on/group activities, reduction of screen time and an overall an increase in traditional teaching methods are needed now.. Social emotional learning (SEL) needs to be re-evaluated and  redesigned to ensure topics related to values and beliefs, and topics that are mature or sensitive in nature  are left to be discussed in the home.
